  • MA
  • VetMB
  • CertVR
  • DSAO
  • FRCVS

Graduated from Cambridge Vet school in 1986. Before establishing Weighbridge Referral Centre, Steve worked as a house surgeon, in general practice and then as a lecturer in surgery at Bristol Vet School for six years.

During this time, he gained Royal College Certificates in Veterinary Radiology & Small Animal Orthopaedics. He then went on to gain the RCVS diploma in Small Animal Orthopaedics in 1992 (one of the first six to do so by examination). This, taken together with the publication of several peer-reviewed scientific papers and innumerable presentations at veterinary conferences, allowed him to become an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) in 1995. He has retained this Specialist status ever since and is currently one of only 43 (taken from the RCVS Register, October 2023) to hold this recognised status in the whole of the United Kingdom. In 2019, Steve was elected to the Fellowship of the RCVS for meritorious contribution to clinical practice.

Steve has served on BSAVA Committees, as Chair of the BVOA and as an examiner for the RCVS, Bristol University & for BSAVA. Over more than 30 years, he has gained extensive experience in orthopaedic and spinal surgery and has become an internationally recognised speaker in the field.

Outside of work and family (with 4 grown-up children), Steve spends a lot of time hillwalking, some time as a volunteer with the Scout Association and also enjoys running/keep fit and trying to play golf.
